Paul Foxcroft -

Dungeon Master

Paul is our DM, so he writes and hosts the Questing Time streams, Paul’s been working in comedy for fourteen years and playing TTRPGs for a lot longer. Questing Time started in early 2016 at The Backyard Comedy Club in East London before moving to The Phoenix later that year and after the pandemic is over, we’ll be back.

Since 2019, Paul has hosted panels and Dm’d for Wizards Of The Coast at the Lucca International Comics and Games Festival, written and hosted two live D&D games for Comic Relief - where alongside Sue Perkins, Nish Kumar, Sara Pascoe, Ed Gamble, Sally Phillips, James Acaster, Phil Wang and Lou Sanders he raised over £45,000 for the UK charity. He’s also in the brilliant Ted Lasso on Apple + . It’s really good.

Plus he wrote and ran two of the D&D 2020 Holiday Specials alongside a host of Twitch and Youtube heroes and the comedians Rachel Parris, Sophie Duker, Heidi Reagan and Jarred Christmas.

Briony Redman -

Briony is a BAFTA Rocliffe winning writer, a comedian and an accomplished improviser. She’s been performing with Questing Time for four years and knows almost none of the rules of D&D.

Briony’s previous characters include ‘Twigs - The Tree Witch’ and ‘Hannah Ball’, a goblin rogue and self titled ‘mastermind’ who loves it when a plan comes together.

You can find out more about Briony over at brionyredman.com

The Amazing Claire

Claire.jpg

In Questing Time: Ravensholm, Briony plays The Amazing Claire, a tiefling bard with a sunny disposition, a shady past and a curious tend towards cannibalism.

She’s a level four College of Lore Bard who has managed to avoid getting paid for quests on no fewer than every occasion. Her last adventuring party was The Rolling Bones, a group of older musicians who abandoned her after a bad gig. Right now Claire lives at the abandoned Phoenix Theatre in Ravensholm.

RICHARD SOAMES

“endlessly enjoyable”. – The List

“endlessly enjoyable”. – The List

Richard is a skilled improviser, comedian, writer and actor. He’s been part of Questing Time since the very beginning, but has somehow never once seen #MCd20 perform. He’s a delightful human who is responsible for a huge number of niche Questing Time content - most notably the hashtag #soamespiss.

He’s appeared in a tonne of sketches, films and stage shows - ranging from Shakespeare to sketch comedy legends The Beta Males, but also including this stupid sketch about a how sausages were invented.

If you like Rich, and why wouldn’t you - he’s great. You can learn more about him by following him on twitter over at @richardsoames or by going to richarsoames.com - IT’S THAT EASY!

REV JACK HARDCORE

Hardcore.jpg

He’s played a number of long running Questing Time characters like ‘Acheron Hades’ the tiefling rogue who opened every conversation with “Hi, I’m Acheron, I’m a thief.” or ‘Mike: Asshole Wizard’ an incredibly unlikable human wizard obsessed with fire and missing social cues who managed to kill three parents of party members in just five games.

In Ravensholm, Richard plays Rev. Jack Hardcore, a human former city guardsman turned cleric of justice. He walks the world armed with a staunch dedication to justice and almost no sense of humour. He carries ‘The Shield Of Heroes’, a magic item of considerable power that may or may not get drastically redesigned if Marvel make a complaint.

MATT HIGHTON

‘Wonderful surrealism’. - The Guardian

‘Wonderful surrealism’. - The Guardian

Matt is a master storyteller, film maker and comedian with a website that’s very hard to read.

He has performed solo shows around the world, from Edinburgh to Australia, he’s also performed at some of the UK's biggest festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival and Latitude.

He’s been a resident performer/presenter, writer, director and editor at The Beano - including directing sketches for their flagship Sky One show ‘So Beano’, working with Nintendo, ITV, and LEGO.

Highton is also a director, writer and co-founder of Chortle nominated, live, improvised comedy show,  Comedians Cinema Club ("One of the best audience-participation showsThe Guardian).

He’s also the resident host of all of the Belgium Comic Cons and has performed at conventions including EGX, MCM's London Comic Con and was part of the critically-acclaimed stage adaption of cult TV show, Knightmare Live (**** Den of Geek).

He makes films too - look here, they’re great.

PHILLIN BLANKS

In Questing Time, Matt plays the amnesiac Halfling Wild-Magic Sorcerer Phillin Blanks.

Phillin.jpg

Phillin has almost no memory of his life prior to the start of the game, but no restrictions on his ability to recall information he’s discovered since, despite what Matt says in game.

Phillin dresses weirdly; golden pantaloons, half a pantomime horse costume… grease and excrement. He’s an agent of chaos who acts almost entirely on instinct, which is echoed by his often unpredictable use of magic and the random magical effects that follow him around.

He occasionally displays bouts of intense competence, like the time he enchanted a minor devil to act as his familiar or… so, one time. He began the trend of never getting Rev Hardcore’s name right and is frequently disciplined by Ruff for behaving weird in front of important people.

RUFUS HOUND

Rufus is a comedian, presenter and legitimate actor from the actual West End.

Rufus’ extensive list of stage credits include the lead role of Freddy in the original West End production of ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’, Francis Henshall in ‘One Man Two Guv’nors’ at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket, Toad in ‘Wind In The Willows’ at London’s Palladium and more recently Sancho Panzo in ‘Don Quixote’ at The Garrick, alongside David Threlfall.

On screen Rufus appeared as regular character Kevlar in Dave’s hit comedy ‘Zapped’, he also took the series regular role of Duncan Trench in Sky’s comedy ‘Trollied’. His credits include Sam Swift in ‘Doctor Who’ (BBC), Cucumber (Channel 4), A Touch Of Cloth (Sky), and as the eponymous hero in BBC’s ‘Hounded’.

We’re as surprised as anyone that he’s spending his weekends dicking around with us.

THE ROUGH KNIGHT

Ruff.jpg

In Questing Time, Rufus plays The Rough Knight - known as ‘Ruff’. A disgraced Mountain Dwarf Barbarian who’s walking the Path Of The Battlerager while forging a new life for his character. We know that he was cast out of his family and city for a failure of duty that we know little about.

He’s armed with a battle axe of warning and a war-hammer that is specifically specialised in blowing up locks. He also wears a set of ancestral Dwarf Spiked Armor which allows him to just… sort of… hug things to death.

He’s a grumpy, irritable Dad figure for the party who uses his gruff demeanour to hide his roiling emotional core.
